Best materials to make a homemade scrunchie holder
"What can I use to make a DIY scrunchie holder?," you may ask...
Well, the best part of this scrunchie organizer is that you can make it using things you probably have at home already! If you don't have them, they're super inexpensive and just a click away!
Check them out:
Stylish Coaster
This is the secret to making your DIY scrunchie stand look expensive for cheap!
Make sure you get a thick and heavyweight coaster, so it will easily hold and display your scrunchies without falling.
This coaster set is the best I’ve found (and trust, I like to do solid pre-shopping research.)
It's not only drop-dead gorgeous, but also sooo cheap. I’ve seen very similar models go for 3 times the price of this one, so if you don't have a stylish coaster at home yet, definitely check out this steal!
Empty Paper Towel Roll
From trash to treasure? Yes, baby! Let’s support the low-waste movement — one scrunchie holder at the time.
The size of empty paper towel rolls is just perfect to make a DIY scrunchie display, but you could also use empty toilet paper rolls if you want to make a cute mini scrunchie holder.

Rub and Buff Paint
A touch of gold paint will make your empty paper towel roll look less like a piece of cardboard and match the fanciness of the coaster.
I got the Grecian Gold Rub n’ Buff color and it turned out looking very similar to the golden edge of the coasters.
Foam Brush
A cheap foam paint brush is all you need to apply the rub and buff paint and give that paper towel roll a complete makeover.
Glue
E6000 glue is my go-to option because of its industrial strength (if you’ve seen some of my other tutorials, you probably already know that by now. )
To make the process more exact and less messy a regular syringe and precision tips are your besties!
Plastic Lid
To make this DIY scrunchie holder look more professional, I wanted to find a way to cover the top of the empty paper towel roll.
So, I had a bottle of vitamins with a very basic lid (looks similar to the ones on Voss water, just shorter) and that's what I used to cover the top.
You can use any lid that fits the cardboard roll… or not lid at all.
